Jo D’Anna is a native Bay Area folk-pop style singer-songwriter who was born in Palo Alto, CA and lives now in Forest Knolls, West Marin. She has been a member of the San Francisco Folk Music Club since 1990. Since that time she has also been a member of the West Coast Songwriter’s Association, and has won awards for “Best Song” and “Best Performance” in that organization. Jo writes in the style of many of her early influences, which include folk-style songwriters from the mid-1960’s and 1970’s, including Joni Mitchell, Kate Wolf, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Simon & Garfunkel and many others of that era, though she has her own individual sound. Jo uses quite a bit of nature imagery and metaphors in her songs. Her first guitar teacher in 1962 was Jerry Garcia in Palo Alto, and since then she has always played her guitar with a finger-style, folk guitar method that is uniquely her own style.
